Our college is affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad, which sanctioned NSS unit with 200-strength to this current academic year and the activities started right earnestly from July.
The NSS unit conducted all the programmes during the year as directed by Karnatak University, Dharwad. These included Swatcha Bharat Abhiyan, Voter’s Awareness Programme, Environment Protection and Water Conservation, National Youth Day and Yuva Saptaha and Blood Donation camp among others.
Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety on August 15, and Republic Day on January 26, in the college and under the auspices of NSS Unit special lectures were arranged to create sense of nationalism among the students. The guest speakers explained the role of youths in India’s freedom struggle. Our volunteers participated in the Cleanliness Drive organized on the occasion.
Overall development of the student’s personality is the objective of NSS and our NSS unit conducted several programmes to help the personality development.
It is a matter of grave concern that the youths are falling prey to Narcotic Drugs and to create awareness about the evil effects of these drugs among the students, special lectures and demonstrations were organized by the NSS unit.
The activities of the NSS unit for the academic year were concluded in March with a resolution to enhance the activities in the ensuring year in order to bring glory to the NSS.
Every academic year NSS unit of our college conducts a camp in nearby village, to create awareness about cleanliness, health and hygiene, about Government schemes, social evils and teaches to live in harmony. Our NSS volunteers inculcate the quality of service in their lives through ‘Shramadaana’. And also learn to live harmoniously and they conduct cultural programmes in the camp for the villagers to amuse them.
